American Baby International English Ltd. is an English training center for young Chinese learners. ABIE was first opened in China in 2009 and since then has over 80 centers in tier 1,2 and 3 cities around China. Meet Alex, a teacher at an ABIE center in Nanjing, China!

1. Where are you from and which university did you graduate from?

I am from Vancouver and I graduated from Nanjing University in 2015

2. Why did you decide to move to China?

I had a good research aim on my favorite topic for my masters degree, and that’s why I came to China in 2012.

3. How long have you lived in China now? What is your current position?

I’ve been living in China since February 24th, 2012 and I am ABIE Regional Foreign Teacher Manager .

4. Which city in China do you live in? What do you enjoy about living there?

Nanjing was (and still is) my first choice! I like being here because of this city’s safety, hospitality, and long history.

5. What are some of your favorite things about being an ABIE English Teacher?

I love teaching and I love seeing my students learning English and using it in daily life.

6. Any memorable moments teaching your students?

All these years are full of memories and picking one to tell is difficult.

7. What are you looking forward to in the coming months?

I’m looking forward to having more duties and responsibilities in the coming months (and a pleasant holiday haha).
