Nile is a First Leap China English Teacher from Atlanta, GA living it up in Nanjing, China. Nile previously taught in the US and decided to teach English in China because he wanted to try living abroad for the first time and do something different.

Check out Nile’s video where he shares about how Career China helped with the application and visa process, what he likes to do in Nanjing, and why teaching in China has been an amazing experience for him.

More About Expat Life in Nanjing

“I really enjoy living in Nanjing. There are so many places to check out and do some sight seeing.” He recommends seeing Purple Mountain, the Nanjing Eye, and the Nanjing Wall, as well as trying the different foods in Nanjing like salted duck and other Chinese snacks.

If you’re looking to meet other expats, there are lots of places to go.

“You can go out to 1912 and other bar and expat areas,” Nile says. “A lot of foreigners are connected because they’re all foreigners. I’ve met other foreigners mainly through music events I do and other expat groups. I’ve done a few open mics at some bars.”

Nile decided to stay for another year because he enjoyed his first year in Nanjing so much.

“I signed a second-year contract because I’ve realized there’s a lot more that I can accomplish, a lot more that I can learn, and a lot more to see here. I’ll definitely be on this side of the world for awhile because I love so much about it.”
