School Description

Great Stone Gridiron is an American youth football development company. It was established in 2012 with the intent to teach American football to youth athletes. Great stone gridiron exercises safety as the basis of all activities, combined with a charming, rich, and fun training model that helps young people to achiever physical and psychological growth. GSG teaches children through the ages of 3-12 years old. The company has 10 campuses between Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou with plans to open up in more cities. The program hosts more than 5,000 active students and has an 8-team full contact league with 2 different age divisions (U9 & U12) competing. There is also a smaller 4-team league that is for the development of players. These games are streamed live on LETV and draw in large crowds. Our coaching staff is made up of almost 100 coaches, both Chinese and foreign. The foreign coaches are made up of individuals from many different countries ad backgrounds but all work together for the common goal of improving the children we encounter on a daily basis. We provide security for Chinese adolescents on professional training courses with full bilingual teaching. We provide professional coaching and well balanced teacher-student ration all for the goal which is every child fully experiencing the atmosphere of a bilingual American physical education course.

Details of Position

A Great Stone Gridiron Coach is responsible for; coaching classes during the week, two full days of weekend classes at an assigned field, being assigned to special marketing events during the weekend or one time demo classes and clean/set up field.

Other potential work that a Coach will do in their day is; paper work and specific tasks handed out by the foreign coach manager, weekly meetings discussing issues from the previous weekend of classes as well as meeting to discuss the plans for the coming weekend. Potential to be sent to marketing events to bring in new students during the week, also be assigned to coach football camps in and outside of the city, potential to coach a youth team for our youth tackle league, potential to be required to act as referee for games. Required to attend several special events throughout the year including certain holiday parties and marketing events.

At Great Stone Gridiron, we expect our Coaches to be active, fun, organised and strategic in American Football. We are looking for coaches who can work in a team, have a good field presence but also lead groups to their full potential.



  • Nationality: Native English Speaker
  • Degree: BA or above (Sports, PE or football related degree given top priority).
  • Experience: TEFL / other teaching certificate OR 2 years coaching experience required
  • Relocate: Must be willing to relocate to China.<span


  • Student age range: 5 – 15 years old.
  • Class size: 1 – 8 students in one class, this varies from different groups.
  • Class length: 1 – 2 hours per coach session.
  • Working Hours:3 office days + Saturday and Sunday (1:30pm – 6:00pm); coaching and office hours.
  • Training: Initial training for all coaches will be done in Beijing.

Your compensation will include:

Net Monthly income: USD 2150 – 3800 (RMB 14000-25000 RMB) before tax *

During Probation Period (2 months)

  • Set pay: USD 1400 (RMB 10,000).
  • Housing: Provided housing by the company.
  • Free Chinese classes.   
  • Coaches who do not pass probation period will be given a one-way ticket home, part if not all the ticket cost may be taken from a coach’s salary.

Post Probation period  

  • Base salary: USD 900 (RMB 6,000)
  • Guaranteed take home: USD 1900 (RMB 13,000)
  • Class bonus: USD 23 per hour (RMB 150).
  • Housing: Provided housing by the company.
  • Airfare Bonus: Annual flight ticket bonus for all coaches without discipline infractions.
  • Annual Leave: Every 6 months a coach is given 7 days paid vacation. Each year a coach is at the company an extra day will be provided with the cap at 10 days.

  • Career Path and promotion development, after 6 months post probation of being a Level one coach you can apply for a level two coach. After two years of being in the company you can apply for a level 3 coach, after passing a series of tests you can become a Coach trainer and even become a field manager. Payment level’s rise as experience rises.
